Kim Ha-seong (San Diego Padres) earned accolades for another masterful defense.
Kim started at first base and second base for the San Diego Padres against the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2023 Major League Baseball World Series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, on Tuesday.
In the bottom of the first inning, Kim caught a line drive hit by Ricky Palacios and threw to first for the out.
Palacios’ hit rolled quickly toward center field. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts was behind the second base bag, but he wasn’t able to catch the ball. That’s when Kim Ha-seong came out of nowhere, caught the ball, and fired it in reverse motion to first baseman Garrett Cooper. The ball was hit into Cooper’s glove for a one-base hit. Kim’s body was tilted toward third base, making it difficult to field the ball to first base. However, Kim made an emotionless throw to first base to get Palacios out.
The TV commentator who was calling the game said, “I can’t believe it. Look at that fielding range,” and stuck his tongue out at Kim’s wide fielding range.
“He’s not the best defender in baseball, but he’s one of the best,” he said.
Kim led off the first inning with a single up the middle and came home on Fernando Tatis Jr.’s sacrifice fly to right field.
In the top of the fourth, he drew a walk and scored on a wild pitch. 온라인바카라
