“Amrabat joins United from Fiorentina on loan until June 2024,” the club announced on its website today.

United director of football John Murtagh said: “We have been following Amrabat for a long time and are delighted to bring him to United. His dedicated and energetic approach to the game fits perfectly with the team we are looking to build. His mental strength, dynamism and technical qualities will be a great addition to our squad as we look to achieve success in all competitions this season.”

On pulling on the United shirt, Amrabat said: “It’s a great honor to be a United player. I had to be patient for this moment, but I am a person who always listens to my heart. Now I get to represent the club of my dreams,” he said.

“I am a passionate player and I want to bring that energy to the team. I will give everything for the team. I know how coach Erik ten Haag works and what he wants from his players. His coaching and guidance has improved me a lot. I know that Coach Ten Haag will help me get the best out of myself and help the team succeed this season.”

Moroccan defensive midfielder Amrabat has played for Utrecht, Feyenoord, Kluip Brugge, Elas Verona and Fiorentina. He has been praised for his strong pressing and tough tackling, along with his ability to dribble and distribute the ball.

He has experience working with Ten Haag. In 50 games for Utrecht, where he made his professional debut, Amrabat scored one goal and provided 10 assists. His tremendous growth during that time earned him a move to Feyenoord.

As seen in the club’s interview, Amrabat only wanted a move to Manchester United. According to multiple reports, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, and Al Ahly were among the clubs that made offers, but Amrabat refused to budge. Despite the fact that his future at United was highly uncertain, he waited for an offer like a gemstone.

The wait paid off. According to European transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the player was loaned out for one season for a fee of €10 million. There is also an option to buy outright for a base price of €20 million, plus an add-on fee of €5 million. The high price tag meant that United could not afford to pay it outright this summer due to financial concerns. Therefore, the deal was finalized with the idea of paying the transfer fee in installments.
